GOPRO"N AROUND JUNO I decided to take a break from shooting other surfers and focus on myself this week. Over the past two weeks I've been having some issues with my gear. My still camera broke, was sent out, fixed and returned broke, thanks guys!. #2 THE REFRACTION CHRONICLES It wasn't big and it wasn't perfect but when a hard NW wind blows in South Florida for 24 hours you can count your pennies that there will be a swell in the morning. The problem most of us face is when and where to surf. It’s a freakish event that takes place during the winter that most surfers know about but don’t use the words to loosely. Atlantic Surf Life recently met up with Chirstina Phillips down at South Pointe Park in South Beach, Florida. Heading West To Winter X-GAMES 15
Over 2000 miles from the nearest East Coast beach break and 8000 feet above sea level, stands a giant 22ft wave of ice, 567-foot long, 75 feet from lip to lip with a pitch of 18 degrees. Volcom's SeaCow Surf Series took place at Sebastian Inlet Florida on December 4th 2010. Aaron Cormican took first place in Pro/Am taking home $2000.00 in cash! November Juice IN SOUTH FLORIDA 1st Swell Florida is know for it's yummy orange juice, sunny sky's and blue ocean, but in November a different type of juice started flowing. The blue started flowing! With waves reaching 4-5 feet and off shore winds for 3 days South Florida Surfers had their first real taste of a real Fall swell. IGOR IN RODANTHE "It's time to get shacked!" One of the strongest swells of the 2010 Atlantic Hurricane season was from Hurricane Igor, reaching a cat 5 while setting up to slam Barbados. FLASH BACK 2003, ISABEL'S CHANNEL SWELL On September 1st 2003 a strong tropical wave moved of the coast of Africa. By September 6th it was declared a Tropical depression and strengthening. The NOAA National Hurricane Center in Miami, FL, reported on September 14 2003 that the center of major Hurricane Isabel was located near latitude 23.7 north, longitude 66.3 west or about 370 miles east-northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
